Any of you heard of the old TV show, "The Life of Riley"? Probably not, but we're starting a new version.
Yesterday was Christy's birthday and tomorrow is Matt's so Riley brought his parents over for party time. (I know, hard to believe anything we do around here could be construed as a party, but we'll ignore those kinds of thoughts).

Tea Party anyone?
I had some fun yesterday and went with a friend to the Loveland tax day Tea Party. I was surprised by the turnout of about 1000 in this town, but quite pleased. People are tired of being mistreated, especially by those sworn to uphold our Constitutional rights. Here's some of what I saw:

A Visit with and Old Friend
Andre' is still the same just a lil older and a bit wiser. He's got 4 kidos ranging from 3 to 10 and lives in Saratoga Utah. The girls loved playing with his kids, they felt like they were haning with Dora the Explorer all day since his 3 and 5 year old speak mainly spanish. We ate some tasty Mexican Burgers and just laughed about old times. It didn't feel like we'd not hung out for 12 years. It was a fun visit!

What I've been doing...
Some of you may be wondering what I've been doing with all my spare time. Well, I seem to stay quite busy most days. Other than what you may know about I recently took a wood sculpting seminar from a world class sculptor living here in Loveland. He has a unique approach to sculpting and the materials he uses. He grew up in west Texas and scavenges mesquite and juniper from the ranchers he knows there. If your interested to see some of his work go to: http://www.jchristopherwhite.com/
Here's my first sculpture using his techniques. The base is Mesquite and the Treble Clef is from West Texas Juniper which can have a Tiger eye effect - some of it is really beautiful stuff. Actually it all is:
Here's the raw mesquite base:
And the Treble Clef in several stages of "sculpting":
I've started a new project so stay tuned!

New Mexico - Fun w/Darcey and Rob
In Cloudcroft, NM we find some lollipops made from cactus juice. They mostly tasted like lollipops.
We take a quick trip to White Sands National Monument.
Marti sticks her feet in the sand - looks a lot like snow.
Back at the ranch a building project begins.
Rob has fun cutting up.
Things start to take shape.
A nearly finished pergola and a fun time in Alamagordo comes to an end.
