Meet Porter

Hi everyone! Things have started to calm down a little bit, well maybe not, but we are beginning to adjust a little better to all the changes we have experienced these past few weeks, so I'd thought I'd take a sec and update you all on what's been happening at our house. First off, meet Porter! He weighed in at 7 lbs 3 oz and was 19 inches long. At his 2 week check up this past Monday he was 8 lbs 9 oz and 20.5 inches long. ( I think we have another chunkers on our hands.) He is hungry every waking moment, which is about, oh every 2 to 2 1/2 hours and in between he does what any other newborn does: ya, sleeps and poops. We think he's awfully cute and the siblings adore him. Here's a few pics of our precious Porter William Miller, and friends :0)

"Best delivery ever!" "So happy he's here!" "So glad it's over!"

Ahhhh, the proud Papa. :0)

"Hi Aunt Carrie, so glad to meet you!"

So, who do ya think he got that head and neck from?

Oh, precious pictures of brothers and sister with littlest brother. This isn't staged. They really do love him.

Here are a few more recent pictures of Porter. He's a little more awake now, but unfortunately we don't have a lot of pictures of him not crying, because as I said before, when he's awake he's usually screaming for food.

We love you little Porter! Welcome to our family!

As for the rest of us, we are all doing pretty well. Nathan and I take shifts with the baby at nights and in the mornings, so we're handling the sleep deprivation together very well. Everything else in life has pretty much gone out the window for the time being, but we both know that time will pass all too quickly, so the house will have to wait.

Dallin is almost done with his first grade year of school. I went to his parent/teacher conference this last week and his teacher said that he has 4's in every category that is graded. (4's are the equivilent to A's) She also said that she did timed reading testing for each stundent in the class and Dallin not only scored off the chart, but when she entered his score, the computer indicated "unlikely." She thought that was pretty funny.

Emma is getting ready for kindergarten. After Porter was born, we realized what a pain long hair could be, and since Emma is so independent and does her own hair in the morning, we decided to get a hair cut. This is Emma before:

this is her now:

And the best part about it was that because she had at least 10 inches of hair taken off, she was able to donate it to "Locks of Love," which is an organization that makes hair pieces for children who have lost their hair because of medical issues, such as cancer. So not only did she get a cute hair cut, but she did a good deed too.

Logan continues to be our subtle comedian. He keeps us chuckling all the time. He has adjusted very well to having a new baby around and is very helpful and patient. He has, however, over the past 3 months (due we think to an illness back in January), developed a breathing problem because of overly enlarged (we're talkin huge) tonsils. Just ask Carrie. She has lived with his snoring, and interrupted breathing every night since she has lived here, so we took him to an ENT today, and it looks like we'll be heading to the hospital on April 23 for a tonsil/adenoidectomy. Because of his age we might have to spend the night at the hospital. Anyways, we're all (except for Logan) a little anxious about the surgery and the recovery to follow, so your thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Well, that's what's new here. We love you all!

Wow, you guys have been busy! Congrats on the new baby, congrats to Emma for her donation and haircut, congrats to Dallin for scoring off the charts, and prayers for Logan!

Tiffany - any way you could email me some of those pictures? They won't all enlarge for me to save them. :( I especially like the ones with each sibling holding Porter and the one where Nathan is holding him up in the air!

Thanks Tiffany! It's so good of you to put those wonderful pics out there, especially when we know how hectic your life can be right now, so it is appreciated all the more.
What a special little guy Porter is, and whether he knows it or not (most likely, he does!) he has joined a very special family.

Cute pictures: Dallin looks like an old pro at this new baby thing; Emma is going to be a good helper along with Logan, who will show a lot of love and compassion to his new little bro.

And I love Emma's hair cut. I got my hair cut almost like that -- Emma's is a lot cuter, though. I'll get "Papa" to take a picture so we can compare.

Dallin -- WOW!! What else can we say? You are just off the charts yourself, you know! We are proud of you.

Good luck and prayers go with Logan and especially mom & dad. I think it's harder sitting and waiting. I still remember waiting in the hospital when Cameron had his done and it took forever-- longer than they said it would and it seemed even longer than it was. So my prayers are to all of you. But know that it will be fine, too!
Thanks for sharing. We love you guys lots and lots and lots.....
