I know most of you may never have known Omi, Christy's Grandma, who past away the other day. Thought I might just post this.

Obituary for Herta Ruth Williams

Herta Ruth Williams of Berthoud, CO died peacefully April 23, 2008 in the Boulder County Hospice Care Center at the age of 72, after a short battle with liver cancer.

Born September 2, 1935 in Fuerth, Germany, Herta grew up during the aftermath of WWII and apprenticed as a furrier.

She and Gustav Kackstaetter married on August 17, 1957. They made their home initially in Germany and later in Montevideo,Uruguay. After their return to Germany and subsequent divorce, Herta immigrated to the United States in 1985. On February 14, 1997 she married Robert J. Williams in Salt Lake City, Utah. They moved to Berthoud in 2000.

Herta had a long career as a furrier, working first in Germany and then for many years at ZCMI department store in Salt Lake City, retiring in 1999. After retirement she expanded her knitting hobby into a side business creating wonderful designs out of Alpaca wool.

Being a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many women’s, young women’s and children’s organizations, most recently in the Lyons Colorado Ward.

Herta is survived by her husband Robert, son Dr. Uwe Richard Kackstaetter & his wife Laura of Berthoud, with seven grandchildren Heidi, Christy, Ruben, Ruth, Jonathan, Katrina and Rachel, as well as sister Dagmar Czermin of Germany.

Visitation will be 9:00 to 9:30 am followed by funeral services at 10:00am Friday, May 2, 2008 at the Lyons Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Park in Salt Lake City, UT.

I had the great privilege of knowing Omi, and she was indeed a wonderful woman. She will be greatly missed. My most sincere condolences to Christy and her family.

I think I met her at the wedding and remembering thinking she seemed really nice. So sorry for your loss, but you will see her again!
